This plot shows the distributions of total short and long term borrowing costs with the option to look at:

  1. Costs, which is the total short and long term borrowing costs, calculated from survey questions; 45. Cost of Short Term Borrowing in the last accounting year to 31 August and 46. Cost of Long Term Borrowing in the last accounting year to 31 August.

  2. Costs per pupil, calculated as the total short and long term borrowing costs divided by the number of pupils. The total number of pupils is calculated from survey question 13. Number of pupils by boarding type as at 31 August.

  3. Percentage (%) interest to capital repayments, calculated as total short and long term interest costs divided by total short and long term capital repayments, from survey questions; 45. Cost of Short Term Borrowing in the last accounting year to 31 August and 46. Cost of Long Term Borrowing in the last accounting year to 31 August.

  4. Percentage (%) of total expenditure, calculated as total short and long term borrowing costs divided by the total expenditure.

  5. Percentage (%) of net fees, calculated as total short and long term borrowing costs divided by Net fee income.
