This plot shows the distributions of total running costs with the option to look at:

Dropdown control

1. Total amount, which is the total running costs, calculated from survey questions:

• 39. Running costs: Utilities
• 40. Running costs: Catering
• 41. Running costs: Consumables, maintenance and welfare
• 42. Running costs: Governance and Legal

2. Total amount per pupil, calculated as total running costs divided by the total number of pupils. The total number of pupils is calculated from survey question 13. Number of pupils by boarding type as at 31 August.

3. Percentage (%) of net fees, calculated as total running costs divided by Net fee income.

4. Percentage (%) of total expenditure, calculated as total running costs divided by the total expenditure.
